GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
|
Under general supervision, plans, organizes, coordinates and directs the marketing, communications, community affairs, public relations and business development programs for the Airport Department, including the Myrtle Beach International Airport. Acts as Information Officer and serves as liaison with County Council, governmental agencies and entities, and various civic groups and committees.

Reports to Director of Airports.
|
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
|
Plans, develops, organizes, coordinates and implements marketing and communications functions.
|
|
Acts as Information Officer and coordinates with the County Public Information Officer to deliver information to the general public, consumers, prospective tenants, and governmental departments and agencies including preparation and delivery of press or media releases and/or responses to direct inquiries as appropriate
|
|
Works with County Information Office to prepare responses to Airport Freedom of Information Act requests and responds to general requests for information directed to the Airport.
|
|
Coordinates, initiates and implements special events for Airport Department.
|
|
Acts as liaison with Federal, State and local governmental entities and agencies with respect to information distribution functions.
|
|
Interacts with County Council, civic groups and various committees as necessary.
|
|
Develops and maintains working relationships with customer airlines, prospective customer airlines and other tenants; interacts with airlines as liaison for Airport concerning air service issues
|
|
Develops and delivers presentations to customer airlines and other tenants concerning air service and other airport related issues.
|
|
Establishes and maintains system for tracking and reporting local, regional and national air service activity and trends.
|
|
Analyzes air service date and develops route analysis, marketing strategies and initiatives and Air Service Development Plans that promote the County Airport system and commercial and general aviation air service growth.
|
|
Prepares, administers and monitors expenditures for the annual marketing and public relations budget.
|
|
Individually and/or working with consultants develops and delivers presentations to staff, Airport Advisory Committee, County Council and other outside civic or governmental agencies, departments or groups as may be necessary and appropriate.
|
|
Serves and/or participates with various committees, business community members and industry trade groups to foster good working relationships.
|
|
Develops and maintains information services on Airport website.
|
|
Compiles and maintains airport contract files, air service statistic reports, and other documents and reports as may be required.
|
|
Performs information and related duties during emergency events and disasters, including but not limited to hurricanes or aircraft accidents on 24 hour on call basis.
|
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
|
Requires bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and seven (7) years of successful professional practical experience in the delivery of marketing and public relations services in an airport setting, or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess valid South Carolina Driver’s license or ability to obtain with six (6) months.
