OSHA Gives Myrtle Beach International Airport Terminal Project an A
Myrtle Beach, SC, October 10, 2012 – Myrtle Beach, SC, - The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) completed a two-day inspection of the terminal enhancement project at Myrtle Beach International Airport and found zero safety citations for over a half million accident-free man hours!
MYR terminal enhancement project General Contractor, MB Kahn is vigilant about safety. Under the leadership of MB Kahn’s Safety Coordinator, Sofie Collins, classes are provided to contractors, construction personnel and anyone that will be on the construction site. The purpose of the classes are to assure a safe and healthful environment for employees working in the construction industry through increased training, implementation of best work-practices, enhanced safety and health programs, and compliance with applicable OSHA standards and regulations.
OSHA inspections are conducted without advance notice by highly-trained compliance officers. Under the OSHA Act, employers are responsible for providing a safe and healthful workplace. Achieving zero safety citations requires aggressive training, regular monitoring and frequent internal audits by employers.
“The fact that one of the largest projects in the history of this County has experienced no safety related issues or injuries this far along in the project is a testament to the tremendous emphasis our contractor partners and the program management team have placed on making sure everyone practices good safety habits and works together to make sure the working environment is safe for everyone. This is a tremendous achievement for everyone involved in making it happen,” stated Michael La Pier, Director of Airports.
