Accessibility

The airport conforms to State and Federal accessibility codes. For those using wheelchairs, the airport offers specially designed ramps, curbs, doors and elevators. Located on both levels of the Terminal Building are signs that feature Braille to assist visually impaired travelers. In addition, seeing eye and service dogs are permitted in the Terminal Building. Please contact your individual airline about service dogs on aircraft.

Airline ticketing and baggage claim are also accessible. Upon prior request, airlines offer special escort and transport service with wheelchair assistance provided from the curb to the security checkpoint and then to the aircraft boarding gate.

Title VI

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in programs and activities receiving Federal financial assistance.  Specifically, Title VI provides that "no person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discriminations under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."  42 U.S.C. Section 2000d

Title VI complaints must be filed within 180 days from the date of the alleged discrimination.  If you require assistance, or need to file a compliant call Horry County Department of Airports at (843) 448-1580 or you may file discriminatory allegations with  :

Parking

Myrtle Beach International Airport offers designated handicap parking spaces for your convenience in all public & employee parking lots.  We offer as a courtesy free parking to our special needs passengers ONLY in our Short Term and Long Term parking lots.  The Special Needs Passenger must display appropriate license plates, hanging documentation, and must also be in the vehicle when exiting the lot.  Beach Bag Service is available if assistance is needed.  The courtesy free parking is NOT offered in the Credit Card lot. 

Screening Checkpoints

In order to assist persons with disabilities or medical concerns, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has developed guidelines with input from various groups. Passengers should check with the TSA website (www.tsa.gov) for further information.

Medical Aid Facilities

There are no medical aid facilities located within the Terminal Building. However, the Myrtle Beach International Airport has trained Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) on staff 24-hours a day, seven days a week. If you do need medical assistance, please contact the nearest airline, police officer, Horry County employee or rental car representative. There are several Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) devices located throughout all public spaces in the terminal.

Restrooms

Accessible restrooms are available on levels 1 and 2 of the Terminal Building and inside the Car Rental Building.

Drinking Fountains

Accessible drinking fountains are available on levels 1 & 2 of the Terminal Building and inside the Car Rental Building.

Baggage Check-In & Claim

All airline ticket counters offer ample room for baggage check-in. Baggage claim is located in the terminal building and is accessible for the physically disabled.

Elevator Service

Accessible elevators are located in the Terminal Building.

Level Entry Boarding Ramps

The Myrtle Beach International Airport offers four gates that have ground level entry access for aircraft passengers. They are located on the first level of the Terminal Building.

Signage

Signs indicating the locations of specific facilities and services are located throughout the Terminal Building.

Passenger Information

Carriers must ensure that individuals with disabilities (including hearing and vision impairments) have timely access to the same information provided to other passengers which includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Ticketing
  • Scheduled departure times and gates 
  • Change of gate assignments
  • Status of flight delays
  • Schedule changes
  • Flight check-in
  • Checking and claiming baggage

 

The Myrtle Beach International Airport is also able to page hearing-impaired passengers through their Flight Information Display System (FIDS).  TDD/TTY service is also available in the terminal.
