Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) sees record passenger traffic in June 2021

The Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) continues to see record-breaking passenger counts this summer.

In June 2021, the number of people arriving on flights, or deplanements, totaled 230,333 compared to 170,059 in 2019. Total passenger traffic, which includes both arriving and departing passengers, totaled 451,750, a 35.2% increase from 334,340 passengers in June 2019, MYR’s previous best June on record.

“The level of passenger traffic we’re seeing at MYR this summer is truly incredible,” said Scott Van Moppes, Director of Airports. “Summer travel began early this year with a record number of passengers traveling through MYR in May and even more in June, with total passenger counts eclipsing our best June on record. We couldn’t be more pleased with the full-recovery of our destination and extreme demand for travel through MYR. As we move through the rest of the summer travel season, we’re confident we’ll shatter even more records. We would like to thank all of our travelers, for their patience and patronage this year and for making MYR a top destination in the United States.”

Heavy passenger traffic is expected at MYR for the remainder of summer. Travelers are reminded to please arrive at the airport 2-3 hours prior to departure time to avoid missing their flight; passengers traveling Friday, Saturday or Sunday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. should expect the heaviest crowds. Passengers should also consider arranging ground transportation prior to arriving at MYR to avoid wait times.
