The Horry County Department of Airports (HCDA), in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), announces the availability of the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the permanent full depth and width runway pavement rehabilitation of Runway 18-36 at the Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR), in Horry County, South Carolina. Pursuant to Title 49, United States Code, § 47106(c)(1)(A) and Section 102(2)(c) of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969, the Draft EA is being circulated for review and comment from the public and federal, state, and local agencies.
The HCDA proposes the permanent full depth and width runway pavement rehabilitation of Runway 18-36 (Proposed Project). The Draft EA has been prepared to disclose the potential economic, social, and environmental impacts of the Proposed Project. The research and analysis provided in the Draft EA disclosed that the Proposed Project would not significantly affect the environment. The Draft EA Notice of Availability describes how the public, and agencies can comment on the Draft EA. The Draft EA agency and public comment period is 30 days. It will begin on April 9, 2024, and close on May 9, 2024.
The HCDA will host a MYR Draft EA Public Workshop on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Myrtle Beach International Airport, FIS Conference Room, Terminal B, 1100 Jetport Road, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. The workshop will solicit comments regarding the Proposed Project and discuss the potential environmental impacts with HCDA and its consultant (RS&H, Inc.). Attendees can park in the Short Term Parking Lot and bring their parking ticket to the meeting to be validated for free parking.
