FOR MEDIA: 2023 Holiday Travel Update

MYR is preparing for a busy Holiday travel period. From Sunday (12/22) through Tuesday (1/2), there are 44,915 scheduled departing seats – an increase of 20% for the same period in 2022.  As a reminder, scheduled seats are not definitive passenger counts, as the actual load factor of each departing aircraft will vary.  Travelers are encouraged to utilize the following tips for a stress free travel experience:

• Arrive at least two (2) hours prior to your scheduled departure time
• Allow extra drive time to the airport for holiday traffic and parking
• Check the status of your flight prior to arriving at the airport
• Utilize @AskTSA for questions relating to the security screening process
• If you're traveling with gifts, do not wrap them until you arrive at your final destination as TSA Officers may be required to open gift wrapping during the screening process.
• Keep an eye out for the airport's P.E.T.S. (Pups Easing Travel Stress) Therapy Dogs, which will be on site occasionally throughout the week to help alleviate travel stress.
